Paris is the capital city of France the city is the largest city and in France and in Europe, it is located on the northern parts on the river seine, the city is also known as the city of love and is considered to be the most romantic and beautiful cities in the world. The city has a population of eleven which makes it one of the most populous city in Europe million people with about 2.2 million people living in central Paris and the about nine million people living in most of these live in central Paris another nine million living the suburbs.

Paris is a city with a rich history, which has contributed to shaping the cities diverse art, fashion, culture, architecture, and design. The city is also known as the La Ville Lumiere or the City of Light and is a major and famous tourist destination. Paris is a world leader not only in tourism but also in business, politics, entertainment, culture, education, fashion, arts, and science, and the city is Europe’s biggest city economy according to PricewaterhouseCoopers accounting firm, its economic dominance spreads beyond Europe into the world for example in terms ranks of cities by GDP it is the fifth in the world. The city is the headquarters of many international organizations such as the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), UNESCO, the International Chamber of Commerce and the Paris club.

Very few cities can compare to Paris in terms of tourism, as it is a major tourist destination which averages over thirty million travelers every year, the city boosts of many famous landmarks, popular parks, and attractions. Paris is affected by the north Atlantic Current which gives the city its characteristic oceanic climate, so the city is always cool and is neither hot nor cold. The summers in Paris are warm and the winters can be cold but nothing serious, in Paris it can rain any time of the year regardless of the season, and sudden showers are a common experience in Paris, and you will rarely find snow.

Paris has many districts and historical sites for example the Champ-Elysees which a garden promenade built in the seventeenth century it was converted into an avenue which connects the Arc de Triomphe and the Concorde, it is a major tourist attraction and draws numerous visitors each year, the avenue is considered to be the most beautiful avenue in the world. There is the Place de la Bastille which is a district which is important to the residents of Paris and the people of France, the district is historical area because this is the square were many political demonstrations have taken place. The Place de la Concorde is another important historical site which was built as the Place Luis XV. Paris is the Mecca of the fashion world and you can find world famous brand names such as Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Chanel, and Givenchy in the Avenue Montaigne. The Montmatre on the Butte is a historical area where you can find the Basilique du Sacre-Couer, and the Montmatre would be a great place to visit if you love art. Music, and art lover can visit the music halls and art studios in the historic left bank area of Montparnasse. If you love shopping then you should visit the L Opera which is an area that is densely packed with offices and department stores.

There are three famous landmarks in Paris; there is the world famous Eiffel Tower, the Napoleonic Arc de Triomphe and the Notre Dame de Paris. The
Eiffel Tower was constructed by Gustave Eiffel in 1889 for the Universal Exposition. The La Defense district hosts many of the tallest skyscrapers in Paris; there are other major monuments in Paris such as the Invalides which is the final resting place of many illustrious sons and daughters of France. There are two statues of liberty which are a symbol of France revolution they are located in the Luxemburg Gardens and in the lle des Cygnes o0n the seine. The world famous museum the Louvre which was a former place is another interesting site to visit. There is the Palais Garnier which hosts the Paris Opera Bellet, and the Paris Opera and you can catch world class opera shows if you get lucky. The Notre Dame de Paris is not the only architectural masterpiece in Paris there is the thirteenth century Sainte-Chapelle Palace plus the Eglise de la Madeline.

Paris has many gardens and parks, two of the most famous include the Tuleries Garden on the banks of the river Seine close to the Louvre the garden was built in the 16th century. The Jardin des Plantes is private garden built for the Marie de Medici. There are other gardens which were previously suburban parks such as the Parc des Buttes Chaumont, Montsouris, and the Parc Monceau , these are the older parks there are the newer versions such as the Parc de la Villette, Promenade Plantee and the Parc andre Citreon.

On the outskirts of Paris you will find a number of Paris’s cemeteries, examples of these include the Pere Lachaise, Montparnesse, Montmatre and Passy. The Opera Bastille and the Opera Garnier are the largest operas in Paris. The theater has played a great role in the culture of Paris and theatre still has a lot of dominance in Paris today some of the popular Paris theatres include the Bobino, Theatre de la gaite Monteparnesse and the Bobino. A visit to Paris would not be complete without a taste of the local cuisine; there are many restaurants in the city offering a wide variety of local and international cuisine. There are many good hotels in Paris offering good reliable accommodation to visitors such as the Hotel Ritz, the Place Vendome.

Paris has many sports facilities on offer, in the form of sports clubs and football clubs, for example Paris is the home of football teams such as Paris Saint Germain FC, and it all hosts an 80.000 seater stadium, the Stade de France which is used for both rugby and football.
